CONNECTORS LAUNCH FAREWELL TOUR
Albert Besteiro, Joey Tamayo and Freddy Longoria, Brownsville's most famous musical trio, are reuniting for a farewell border tour that will take them from Brownsville to Harlingen to McAllen to Eagle Pass and to Del Rio. This is their sixth farewell tour in the last three years.
"I can't think of a better way than the Connectors inaugurating their final tour at Cobbleheads," said Joe Kenney. "Brownsville is their home and I'm glad that they are paying homage to their roots by commencing here. I know that I'm going to shed a few tears realizing that I will never see them together again."
Albert, Joey and Freddy have traveled many roads since their split, but they are the same down-to-earth cabrones who epitomize Brownsville at its best. For more than three decades among the border's hipsters the Connectors have reigned supreme. Their eclectic tastes created the dynamics for a variety of original tunes.
"I seldom go anywhere," said Fernando Benavidez, the famed lead singer for Nozotroz. "But I'm throwing my pajamas into the hamper, squeezing into a pair of jeans that emphasize my bullfighting balls and heading to Cobbleheads to listen to my old buddies. I hope Freddy shows up for the first set because he wrestles with the concept of time."
The Connectors have been Brownsville's most effective ambassadors.
"In a pinche pueblo dominated by putos and culeros, it's nice to know we still have Alberto, Joey and Freddy," said Maclovio O'Malley.
