GRAY LAMENTS BLOG'S NEGATIVITY
During my tenure as State Representative Rene Oliveira's legislative aide, I have had the privilege to work with many of our fine citizens. We are fortunate in Brownsville to have so many outstanding people in our community. Sadly, The McHale Report's readers have a negative perspective because the publication has nothing positive to publish.
As a former journalist myself, I respect The McHale Report's right to express its opinion. I only wish the editorial staff treated this right with more responsibility. Its writers have cried "fire" so many times I'm surprised that Brownsville hasn't suffered the same fate of Sodom and Gomorrah and burned to the ground.
Personally, I find the personal attacks revolting. The McHale Report never rises above smearing our fine leaders. I think of the destroyed careers of the pillars of our community and I bemoan the blog's gratuitous vituperations.
Few individuals have contributed more to Brownsville's betterment than these unselfish individuals. I have witnessed them in action in Austin and they have been effective spokespersons, but The McHale Report only publishes a distorted version of their remarks.
I was sharing a bottle of wine with my good friend Dr. Polyphemous Pangloss. As the alcohol worked its magic, we expressed the same lamentation: Why is The McHale Report so intent on destroying rather than restoring Brownsville to its past glory as the New Orleans of the Rio Grande? We concurred that there are mysteries regarding human nature that are beyond our comprehension.
